- QED-WP Version 2.1 9/17/88
- WordPerfect emulation for QEDIT versions 2.06
- by Randy Brook, Seattle, WA
- Public Domain
-
- I have seen several attempts to emulate WordPerfect
- function keys with QEDIT. To my view, they deviate far more
- from WP than is actually necessary. This file attempts to
- track WP function key definitions as closely as possible.
- Of course, there will be differences and a few tradeoffs.
- For instance, I have moved the Help key to F1, in order to
- leave all of F3 for variations on the Window theme.
-
- I haven't come up with a use for F8 (underline),
- though the other three F3 choices are format related.
- HOME+cursor works as in WP. Ctrl-PgDown goes to end of the
- document, rather than deleting to the end of the page.
- Variations in the block commands are inherent in QEDIT,
- although they are still pretty close to WP. The biggest
- difference is that hitting alt-F4 a second time places a
- block end marker, but you aren't obliged to use this
- feature.
-
- This file is public domain. I do not believe it is
- legally possible to copyright a set of key definitions that
- simply track WordPerfect and QEDIT. I suppose the layout of
- the help screen could be copyrighted, but that would be a
- bit ridiculous.
-
- However, QEDIT is copyrighted and is shareware.
-
- To use these files, run QCONFIG, select K for keys,
- and name QEDWP.KEY for the key definition file. Then select
- H for help, and name QEDWP.HLP for the help file.
-
- By the way, if you have an enhanced keyboard (12
- function keys across the top), you can print the QEDWP.HLP
- file and get a keyboard template to use.
-
- ** New in version 2.1. Added "Insert_Date" as shft-F5.
- Note that QEDIT uses an odd date format:
- DAY [abbreviated 3 chars] dd/mm/yyyy
- Changed Help screen to reflect above change, and renamed
- ctrl-F3 from DoDos to DosCmd, in either case meaning execute
- a DOS command without actually shelling out to DOS.
